Visit the Dalí

The Dalí Museum is located in downtown St. Petersburg and features the largest collection of Salvador Dalí’s works outside of Spain. From bold surrealist paintings to mind-bending installations, there’s plenty to engage curious minds of every age. The museum is open daily, and updated ticket pricing and hours can be found directly on The Dalí Museum website.

The museum offers discounted admission for educators, first responders, military personnel, seniors, and students with valid ID. Admission to the new Dalí Alive 360 experience requires a separate ticket, and advanced reservations are recommended due to limited capacity.

For a snack or light lunch, stop at Café Gala, located inside the museum and offering a delicious selection of Spanish-inspired dishes, pastries, and coffee. Don’t skip the museum store, conveniently located near the entrance, where you’ll find creative and quirky gifts, books, and art-themed treasures perfect for all ages.

Tips:

Introducing children to art museums at a young age offers so many benefits. It is more than just looking at paintings. It sparks curiosity, encourages creativity, and builds an appreciation for different ways of thinking. The Dalí Museum, with its surrealist art and playful elements, is the perfect place to begin that journey.

Young children may not fully understand the meaning behind the artwork, but they are naturally drawn to bold colors, unusual shapes, and interactive experiences. As they grow, so does their ability to engage with what they see. They begin asking questions, sharing interpretations, and connecting art to their own lives. Museums like The Dalí offer a layered experience that grows with them.

Over the years, our visits to museums have become moments of exploration and reflection for my family. My 9-year-old may not always be thrilled when I say we are going to a museum. Once we are there, he is fully engaged, pointing out the strangest painting or asking questions that surprise me. These outings give us a chance to slow down, talk, and see the world through a different lens together.

Whether your child is 3 or 13, a trip to an art museum can help nurture imagination, support learning, and create a meaningful shared experience. The Dalí is a great place to start.
